“My painting incorporates my reactions to personal life experiences.  A blank canvas presents me with an opportunity to explore the emotional interplay of colors.  This process often involves combinations of materials, such as crayon and watercolor or a waxy oil bar and loose oil paint, to produce effects of resistance and flow.  I love to work with all media, watching what transpires on the surface of the canvas.  No matter where the inspiration comes from, color remains dominant in the work.  The end result is a view into my imagination.” —SLS
